Coimbatore

Coimbatore is one of the major industrial cities of India located at the extreme western part of Tamilnadu. The city is situated on the bank of Noyyal river. It is the second largest city of Tamilnadu and also one of the fastest emerging cities of India. The city is famous for its numerous textile factories. Besides it the city has a number of automobile parts manufacturers, engineering firms, educational institutions, and health care facilities.

Real Estate Scenario
The business environment is rapidly changing after the serial bomb blast of 1998. City has come over that period and now is stepping towards becoming a major force in IT and manufacturing industry. The real estate industry in Coimbatore is going through a good phase. From last two years, the local builders, and promoters are having good time as large number of new projects are flooding the city. The multinationals and foreign companies are partnering with the local developers to start joint ventures.

Coimbatore is witnessing a massive construction work through out the city. Whether it is commercial/ office complexes, lavish apartments or medium budget houses, the city has never seen such construction activity in the past. If we take the organized as well as unorganized sectors into consideration, then as estimated, around Rs 1,000 crore is already invested in this business.

Some Major Upcoming Projects

• The agency under state government IT department, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Elcot), is preparing about 30 acres of land to develop IT/ITES companies in Coimbatore.
  
  
• Wipro, the leading Indian software company, has bought 12 acres of land in Coimbatore for creating a BPO center.
  
  
• Cognizant Technology Solutions, a US-based company, has acquired 40,000 sq ft of office space in Coimbatore. They will employ 300 people at the starting and plans to double it later.
  
  
• Another US based company, HealthScribe, which is a part of the Spheris Group, has also occupied 40,000 sq ft of space and started their operation from there.
  
  
• ETL Infrastructure Services Limited has started the work on a software park at Avinashi Road in the heart of the city. Its first phase is completed and the project will be finished soon. The IT park will cover 14 acres of area.
  
  
• JAIN Housing and Constructions Ltd is working on a housing project, Jain Surabhi, at Avinashi Road. The project will cover more than 2 acres of area and around Rs 40 crore will be invested. It will be fitted with 128 two and three-bedroom apartments.
